The Curve of The World To Be Published By Aqueduct Press!

Clarion West is pleased to announce that Vonda N. McIntyre’s final novel, THE CURVE OF THE WORLD, will be published by Aqueduct Press.

Six years after McIntyre’s passing, this amazing story can finally be told. The Curve of The World explores an alternate Minoan civilization and was completed shortly before McIntyre’s death in 2019. Vonda N. McIntyre established herself early as a powerful feminist voice in the speculative fiction community — and her trademark exploration of society and complex found family relationships is on full display in The Curve of the World.

Vonda’s fans have been waiting for the publication of this last novel for years. Nicola Griffith wrote a review for The Curve of The World in a 2019 Seattle Met article:

“… it is a marvelous vision of how the world might have been, perhaps once was, and might, still, one day be. The world needs this novel.”

Altogether, Vonda published sixteen novels, and may perhaps be best known for Dreamsnake, which won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. She became the second woman to win the Nebula award for Best Novel in 1978 and the third woman to receive the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1979. The Moon and the Sun won the Nebula Award in 1997 for best novel and was made into a film, The King’s Daughter, starring Pierce Brosnan and Kaya Scodelario.

In her 2022 essay about Vonda’s work in the Star Trek franchise, Una McCormack states:

“Her phenomenal body of work – original and franchise – speaks to the possibilities inherent in finding affinity across time and space with those who value diversity, accept responsibility for their lives and their actions, and thus strive to make the universe a better place for all.”

The Curve of The World follows ship captain Iakinthu on her journey from the Mediterranean Sea to the northwest coast of North America, where she encounters pirates and treacherous royals, and discovers that trust can be built between unlikely allies. We can’t thank L. Timmel Duchamp at Aqueduct Press and Jennie Goloboy with the Donald Maass Literary Agency enough for delivering Vonda’s final work to readers.

Clarion West was the recipient of the Literary Estate of Vonda N. McIntyre in 2019. For general inquiries about Vonda N. McIntyre and her work, please contact the committee at .Learn more about Vonda’s works here: https://www.clarionwest.org/about/mcintyre-literary-trust/
