Excerpt
Sometimes when I pull the mirror out, there is a noise behind me. A low, feral moan like a housecat pawing to be let out. And with the sound, the smell of old things. Damp. Decaying. Forgotten. There is a person watching me that must be Seraphina. But she has learned to blend in, to use age as a disguise, and I am unable to find her.
Bio
I'm a writer and bellydancer (American Tribal Style) living in the South. I've recently finished my MFA degree in fiction from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I attended Clarion West in 2011, and it was the best writing experience I've ever had.
Publications
Short story, "In Miniature," River Oak Review, forthcoming 2012
Writing Description
I write slipstream stories that dance around the boundary between genre and literary fiction. My stories have weapons-grade rabbits, elemental sisters, and mirrors that have desires of their own.
Writing Goals
Each week I will write a new short story.
