Everything awful had already happened. Everything awful had happened before the story even began: the house burned, the children gone, true lovers parted forever, fatal diseases, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods. Far too much for any one life to hold, and yet most lives hold all that, and much more besides. You have to cut it down to little pieces to be able to bear to look at any of it, the amazing good as well as the amazing bad.
Bio
Earlier, I worked in a lumberyard, wrote budgets for a no-longer-extant bank, researched quotations for one of Ronald Reagan's speechwriters, wrote code that ran on mainframe computers, won awards for Latin oratory, served on the Clarion West Board of Directors. Now I make cocktail hats, lift weights, raise money for writers, and vote Democratic. I remember very little Latin and hardly any job control language.
Writing Description
I write only a few more words than I erase, but I keep writing. Even when I say I'm not writing, I keep writing.
Writing Goals
I'll write every day. I'll keep some of the words.
Fundraising Goals
I need a new challenge this year. How about if I sponsor the third 100 participants, but only if there are 300 participants? Is there someone out there who's up for sponsoring the first 100 participants? the second 100 participants?
