About Me:

Amy Sisson was born in Cleveland, grew up in New Jersey, and has lived in (then West) Germany, Pennsylvania, Australia (Sydney), North Dakota, California, and upstate New York. She and her husband, Paul Abell, currently live in Houston, Texas.

Amy has a bachelor's degree in English and Economics, a Master's in Space Studies, and a Master's in Library Science. She has been reading SF since she was sixteen, when one of her teachers in Germany lent her a box of old SF paperbacks in English that had been left in his attic. (Well, technically she's been reading science fiction since she read Babar Visits Another Planet by Laurent De Brunhoff and The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet by Eleanor Cameron, but she didn't recognize them as science fiction until much later.) Amy decided during college that she wanted to write, and when a friend took her to her first SF convention, she knew she'd found where she wanted to be.

While going to school and working various jobs, including a stint at Locus, Amy edited the SFRA Review for three years and began writing freelance book reviews. She attended the Clarion West writing workshop in 2000, and edited their alumni newsletter, The Seventh Week, from 2003 to 2006. In her non-writing life, she works as an academic librarian.
