Well from Clarion UCSD anyway. Got the email within the past hour. I was a little surprised I heard back from them so quickly. Which kind of makes me imagine that I was so clearly unsuitable!

Did anyone else apply there and hear back already?

Also rejected here. I've heard of at least one other. They must have gone out in a blanket sending. I am unhappy, but I already feel like a big part of the community here and it would have been a tough choice between the two. Now there will be no choosing, just hoping for Seattle. I just stumbled aross a blog post of someone saying they were already rejected from Clarion West. First I've seen. I'll keep trolling, because that's much more useful than working on a story.

I don't mind about my Clarion rejection. After reading Jeff VanderMeer's blawg, I knew it was going to be tuff. Delany, my hero, will be teaching a week-long course at Naropa this summer, so if CW doesn't pan out for me, I might fork up the bucks to go hang out with hippies for part of the summer.

Haven't heard anything else, but it won't be long now. Whatever happens, I refuse to cry into my hankie. The anxiety of waiting will wear off and I'll be able to do more constructive things with my energy (like continue to write!).
