Deadline is almost here!

And I keep having to remind myself that doesn't mean that we'll be hearing anything any time soon. Whoops.

In the meantime, flights prices to Seattle are steadily rising. Looks like I'll need to have at least two layovers for it to be remotely affordable. I'm looking on the bright side: imagine how much reading I'd get done!

So what is everyone doing to keep busy?

Me, I cut 10k from my novel, sent out a round of queries, got a rejection on a partial that prompted me to rip out another 4k, queried some more, wrote and trashed the first draft of a short story, beta read some novels for friends, did plotting on a future novel and came up with an entirely new one... and I'll also admit to running around with too much nervous energy to burn while waiting on responses, but I'm not particularly proud of that part. *g*

*write, write, write, change

*write, write, write, change diapers, write, write, clean house, write, eat, sleep...*

Hmm?  What?  Did you say something?

Wait - you sleep and clean

Wait - you sleep and clean the house? Drat. I knew I was forgetting something...

I didn't say I did either of

I didn't say I did either of them particularly well...

Today, I officially started

Today, I officially started the draft of that entirely new novel I mentioned. It's very different from the novels I've written so far--part dark fantasy, part family tragedy. I'm really excited about it.

Let's see how far I get before I hear from Clarion. :D
