Our sixth Clarion West Write-a-thon ended on July 31, 2009, along with this year's Clarion West Writers Workshop. Several participants posted about their agony and ecstasy in the Clarion West Forums and on their blogs. K. Tempest Bradford spotlighted writers of color participating in the Write-a-thon and raised money for the Octavia E. Butler Scholarship Fund as well as Clarion West. Paul Park solicited donations simultaneously for us and Clarion in San Diego, where he taught this year. Many thanks and congratulations go out to the Clarion West community and the friends of our Write-a-thon participants.
Our goal for 2009 has been to get the support of 200 donors, and with over 140 we're well on our way to meeting that goal. There's still time to make a donation and add your name to the count. We hope to set a new fundraising record this year, too; over $6,000 has been raised already, and the donations we received while the Write-a-thon was in progress helped us meet the {link to "challenge met" story}Amazon.com $25,000 challenge grant.
