Excerpt
Gastown stretched out like an airborne patchwork quilt, undulating with the currents of wind. In the center, the flat, barge-like platforms held firm, hanging from a canopy of balloons, but on the edges, the lashed on airships vibrated slightly. Atop, in the rigging, the patchmonkeys ran over the canopy's netting, searching for leaks, chattering to each other in the morning air.
Bio
I'm a graduate of the 2008 Clarion West Writers Workshop and currently live in New York City. I have an inordinate fondness for beer, wine, zeppelins, and the creatures that live in the deepest parts of the ocean.
Publications
My first publication appeared in Shimmer Magazine's Pirate Issue and received an honorable mention in The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror (edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin Grant). My second story is forthcoming in Shimmer Magazine's Clockwork Jungle issue.
Writing Description
I like to write a bit of everything, with the common ingredient being a touch of the weird. I like to write both short stories and novels and like to range the genres, going as far as westerns and mysteries (sometimes in the same story).
Goals
I plan to finish a story a week for the six weeks of the workshop, though I reserve the right to substitute a novel chapter if the mood so strikes me.
Inspired by my classmates, I will be aiming for a minimum of $100. However, I am hoping that I can overshoot the mark and bring in a lot more.
Website
My personal website is http://www.rajankhanna.com. I also write about beer and wine at http://www.fermentedadventures.com
