“So what kind of games were you thinking about buying?” I asked.
“Sports games? Shooters? Platformers?” She shook her head blankly.
“Hmmm...maybe role-playing?” I said, pointing to the display.
“No!” she said firmly. “Nothing with spells. Or, or swords. That’s all stupid.”
“Of course,” I replied. “What if it’s got technology so advanced that it’s indistinguishable?”
She grinned. “It’s always distinguishable.”

Writing Description
Just when I was saying I was only writing fantasy these days, I got a slug of a really compelling science fiction idea. What remains true, though, is that the projects that end up capturing me are ones that involve transformation and integration. But those are both pretty broad concepts and can often end up going in unexpected directions.
Goals
Last year, my goal was to write something every business day. I met that goal, with an average of 150 net words/day.
This year my goal is again to write every business day, but to up the output to an average of 500 words/day.
The project I'll be working on is called Body of Work, and consists of 5 linked short stories. During the write-a-thon, I'll work on two of those, with the titles "Right of Last Refusal" and "The Left Hand Never Knows." I'll provide updates in my Livejournal for sure.
Just as I'm tripling my word count goals, I'm going to try to triple my fundraising over last year as well.
