Excerpt:
(And if there are parts of the city not so well-lit at night, dark passages in which the person who enters might come back out as someone else entirely, or perhaps not come back out at all, well, these are not the places a tourist needs to know about.)

After living in Washington, DC, for many years, I'm now back in my native Austin.

Writing Description:
Lately I've begun to realize that the defining characteristic of most of my fiction is exploration of ideas. That doesn't mean I can't be funny, and I certainly haven't abandoned the adventure story (my first love). Nor does it mean I know what the ideas are before I start writing.
Writing Goals:
I am revising a novel at the request of a publisher. I will work on this novel every day during the Write-a-thon.
