Marguerite Croft

Caren 'n Maggie
Excerpt:
It is a cold autumn night: the air is sharp and the wind bites through the windows. The scent of moldy leaves and smoke lingers in the air. A week ago the air would have been filled with children laughing, but tonight there is only the sound of the wind, the crackling of the cold air, crisp leaves crunching and acorns popping as they hit the ground.
